Surisawa ends Falcon tennis career at states

Masami Surisawa stands in front of a banner for the state championships

Congratulations to ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú High School senior and two-time Section 2 singles champ Masami Surisawa, who played his last tennis match as a Falcon on Friday at the state championships in New York City.

Surisawa finished the regular season and sectional tournament with an incredible 21-0 record before heading off to the state tennis tournament at the USTA National Tennis Center. He won his opening match at states on Friday morning to improve to 22-0 before falling to the tournament's No. 1 seed in the round of 16.

Surisawa won't have time for regrets. A talented trombonist, he is off to France on Tuesday morning with the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Marching Falcons. The Marching Falcons are one of two U.S. marching bands invited by the French government to participate in the country's 80th anniversary celebration of the D-Day invasion during World War II.

An amazing career for an amazing Falcon!
