County honors Marching Falcons

Band director shakes hands with legislator as quintet looks on

The accolades just coming to the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Marching Falcons!

The ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú’s marching ensemble was honored Monday with a proclamation from the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú County Legislature sponsored by County Legislator (and Falcon mom) Susan Pedo.

A brass quintet made up of marching band members performed the National Anthem for the legislature, and band director Bryan Cady accepted the proclamation on behalf of the Marching Falcons.

Some 48 students from ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú High School and the district's middle schools will head to France in June to help commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion.

The Marching Falcons are one of only two bands from around the world who will perform on Omaha Beach in Normandy as part of France’s events recognizing the historic battle that changed the course of World War II in Europe.
