News of the week
- Wicked good! – Congratulations to a job well done to all students, staff, parents and community members who took part in making the a huge success on Nov. 1 and 2.
- Sheds for sale – Our ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú High Construction Technology students are putting their skills to work by offering small lean-to style sheds for order. to learn more!
- Dynamic learning opportunities – Our Falcons have a variety of learning opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom. Our Business Concepts class took a to learn about how a business operates and our seniors working to earn the Seal of Civic Readiness on their high school diplomas participated in a with guest speakers from the People's Perception Project, the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Chapter of the NAACP and One With Us.
- Athletics Achievements – We're incredibly proud of our girls' volleyball team for making it to semifinals - congratulations on a great season! Also, a big hurrah to our cheerleaders for a great performance at the on Nov. 2!
- Sports Sectionals – Our girls' swimming and diving team is competing at sectionals on Nov. 8 and 9 and our boys' and girls' varsity cross country teams are competing at sectionals on Nov 9. Best of luck to both teams!
- CDTA bus stops – Please read this important communication from Principal Jodi Commerford about student safety and changes in CDTA stops beginning this coming week.
- No school on Monday, Nov. 11 – School is closed on Monday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day. Our Marching Falcons and JROTC will be participating in the City of ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Veterans Day parade to honor those who have served our country in the military.
- Lunch and Learn, Nov. 13 – All students are invited to our upcoming Lunch and Learn featuring guest speaker Eugene O'Neill. Lunch and Learn assemblies take place during periods 4-7 so students can attend during their scheduled lunch period.
- Winter concert season kicks off on Nov. 13 – In November and December, our Falcons will be showcasing their vocal and musical instrument talents at our winter concert series. The Chamber Concert is Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 6 p.m. and will feature the , Chamber Choir and . Visit our calendar for details on the concerts scheduled for Dec. 4 and Dec. 11.

Winter athletics informational meeting – The winter sports informational meeting will take place on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. at ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú High School. Students who are interested in playing a winter sport are encouraged to attend with a parent/guardian. Translators who speak Spanish, Arabic and Pashto will be present at the event. Families can learn about our winter sports program by visiting our website.
- Friday fun on Nov. 15 – Mark your calendars for two awesome events! Our annual chili cook-off will tantalize your tastebuds and provide resources for our students who are part of SkillsUSA. This event is open to students, staff and the community. For our Falcon students, we will be holding The Greatest Showman sing-a-long for free in the AHS auditorium. Hope to see you there!

Important reminders

- ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú High is a closed campus, which means:
- Students are not allowed to leave campus for any reason without parent permission. Students who leave campus without a valid reason will not be allowed to re-enter the building without parent contact.
- All students are required to take the bus to and from Abrookin & the main campus for any classes. Students who do not take the bus will not be allowed to re-enter without parent contact. The bus is available at the Washington Ave doors.
- Students should never let anyone in the building through any door, even after school hours. This is a violation of the Code of Conduct. All students and adults entering our campus must enter through security routine.
- Please be reminded personal food deliveries will not be accepted by security. If you leave the campus to receive an order, you will not be allowed re-entry.
- Students are not allowed to leave campus for any reason without parent permission. Students who leave campus without a valid reason will not be allowed to re-enter the building without parent contact.
- The PTSA needs you! – Our Parent Teacher Student Association is looking for students, staff and parents/guardians who will share their voice and brainstorm ideas for how we can serve our school community. Visit the to learn more. We hope you join us for the next meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 19.
- Scholarship opportunities – Students and families can view scholarship opportunities in , our college and career readiness platform. is an example of a scholarship opportunity in the platform.
- Academy lottery applications – Applications are now available for the 2025-26 ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú High School academy lottery! Current ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú families are welcome to complete the application online now, but please note that all current eighth-graders will have the opportunity to visit the high school, learn about each academy, and then complete the application with their guidance counselor. Private, parochial and charter school families in the city who would like to enroll their current eighth-grader in the lottery must complete an application by Nov. 28.
