Greetings, Falcon families!

News of the week

  • Thanksgiving Food Distribution – Thanks to the generosity of First Student and our ongoing partnership with the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, we were able to provide with a turkey, Thanksgiving sides, desserts and more to families in need in our school community. We are so grateful for the students, parents, staff and community members who volunteered their time to assemble the bags for delivery!

  • Clubs and activities – Our Falcons have so many fun ways to build important life skills and experience camaraderie with their peers. This week, 25 students in our Medical Science Club participated in a led by professionals from the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú Fire Department. Our students in the Best Buddies Club got an early start on the Thanksgiving festivities by enjoying a together. To learn more about our clubs at ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú High, visit our website.
     
  • Thanksgiving Recess – Students are on recess Nov. 27-29. Classes resume on Monday, Dec. 2. We wish our whole ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú High community a restful and rejuvenating Thanksgiving holiday!

  • Falcon Food Pantry – Our Falcon Food Pantry has a wonderful selection of food available for students and families. It is closed during the Thanksgiving recess and will re-open on Monday, Dec. 2. 
     
  • Academic Resources – Our staff and teachers have been working hard to equip students with helpful resources to set them up for success both in and out of the classroom. Here are a few academic resources we'd like to highlight this week:
     
    • Our Online Success Center uses the self-paced Edmentum Courseware, which can be used for credit recovery and online electives. Visit our website to learn more. 
       
    • The Liberty Partnerships Program is held every Thursday at the Falcon center during all lunch shifts. This program provides homework help, one-on-one tutoring, college and career preparation, mentorship and cultural and enrichment programs. 
       
  • Academy lottery applications – Applications are now available for the 2025-26 ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú High School academy lottery! Current ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú families are welcome to complete the application online now, but please note that all current eighth-graders will have the opportunity to visit the high school, learn about each academy, and then complete the application with their guidance counselor. Private, parochial and charter school families in the city who would like to enroll their current eighth-grader in the lottery must complete an application. The deadline has been extended to Dec. 1.
