It Takes a Village!
The old adage, "It Takes a Village to Raise a Child," can be said for our recent Career Day event. A diverse group of parents, neighbors and community members spoke to the students at New Scotland Elementary in celebration of Black History Month. Students were able to learn about our speakers’ personal and professional journeys, broadening their horizons and encouraging them to explore a diverse range of career paths. Students and staff agreed that this day was not only fun, but served as a powerful motivator for them to believe in their potential.

Read for Ronald McDonald House!
New Scotland Elementary students will read for a cause throughout the month of March as we kicked off our “Read for Ronald McDonald House of the Capital Region” with a schoolwide assembly.
Read for Ronald McDonald House is a reading-based community program that encourages students to practice their reading skills while helping families served by Ronald McDonald House charities. The Ronald McDonald House provides a home away from home to family members of children receiving critical care at Medical Center at no charge to the families.
Our NSES students can support the RMHC by collecting pledges from family and friends for their reading throughout the month. Last year, the NSES community was able to raise over $3,000. This year we are hoping to beat last year’s collected donations.
