Leaders in literacy

ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú High student reading to elementary student

On Tuesday, two of our New Scotland Elementary School classes enjoyed a visit from six ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú High students for a festive read-aloud activity.

Each elementary student was assigned a "reading buddy" who read a variety of titles aloud, ranging from holiday stories to everyday favorites. Seeing the children's eyes light up with joy as they listened to the stories and looked at the illustrations was such a treat!

All of the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú High students who participated in the read-aloud activity are currently taking Specialized Reading, so this was a wonderful opportunity to apply the skills they have been developing. We are proud of them for being leaders in literacy and for inspiring younger students in the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú to develop a love for reading!

This activity was made possible by the collaboration of three amazing educators: ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú High teacher Erin Reeve and New Scotland Elementary teachers Dawn Abrams and Kristina Smith.

We invite you to to view some of our favorite photos from the day!
